A LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT !

On behalf of the Rho Zeta Chapter of Chi Omega, welcome! My name is Ginny Stroud, Chi Omega’s 2025 Chapter President. My hope for you is that, through our website, you will be able to catch a small glimpse of Chi Omega here at ECU.

I came to college wanting to join a sorority to make friends, but I have found so much more: deep connections, leadership opportunities, roommates, networking, support, travel buddies, mentors, life skills, confidence, inspiration… I could go on and on! We have a compatibly diverse group of women with different personalities and backgrounds, but we join together to participate in something bigger than ourselves. We celebrate our differences because that is what makes each member a unique piece of the perfectly crafted puzzle in our sisterhood.

Above everything else, the reason we exist is so that girls can find like-minded friends that make them feel heard, loved, and respected. Your years at ECU will be some of the most exciting times of your life. However, there will be days that might not be so great. It's on those days when you need friends who will comfort and encourage you. Through Chi Omega, I have found friends who offer comfort during the lows and celebrate with me during the highs. I am confident that I have formed authentic friendships that will stick with me forever.

Three years ago, I never imagined I would be introducing myself as the Chi Omega Chapter President, but here I am, and I couldn’t be more grateful. This incredible chapter of uplifting women has played a huge role in helping me grow as a leader. I’m truly honored to serve in this role and to be surrounded by such a supportive, inspiring group of sisters. Everyone deserves a team of cheerleaders and I found my support system here at Rho Zeta.

Being a Chi Omega at ECU is walking into the house and being greeted by our wonderful Chef Mich. It's sitting in the living room with your in-house roommates to rant after a long day. It's staying up way too late laughing with your best friends. It's having a study buddy who will always keep you accountable and hold you in the highest regard. It's getting to see the pure joy on a child’s face during a Make-A-Wish event in the front yard. It's dedication to do our best to keep our Six Purposes at the forefront of our sisterhood. Chi Omega’s are well-rounded individuals who value scholarship, high values of personnel, integrity, friendship, campus involvement, and community service. Lastly, it's about taking any and every opportunity to flourish during our short time here at ECU. From the Honors College to bible studies, or the volleyball or cheerleading team, rarely would you find an organization on campus without a Chi Omega in membership.

I often wonder where I would be without Chi Omega, but I can confidently say that I would not be who I am today without Rho Zeta. This chapter has brought me out of my shell and created an environment that cultivates kindness and achievement. I owe it to all to you, Rho Zeta!

I hope this has given you an idea of how much Chi Omega means to me. It’s not just a house. It’s a home filled with family we will cherish for a lifetime. We, as members of Chi Omega, are forever grateful for our home and all the women who have chosen to live by Chi Omega’s highest teachings. Fate has brought us together at ECU, but we are sisters on purpose.
